MISSISSAUGA, Ont. —  A fund has been created to help the family of John Pham, the 10-year-old St. Alfred School student who was killed in a school bus accident on April 11. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board started the John Pham Memorial Fund to assist in covering funeral costs and getting the family back on its feet.
“We appreciate the kindness, generosity and sense of community we have seen and felt during this difficult time for the Phams and the St. Alfred School family,” said Bruno Iannicca, board chair, in a press release.

The accident happened while  the St. Alfred’s class was on a school field trip, driving on Hwy. 410, south of Brampton. The bus flew off the road after hitting a tractor trailer and Pham died from head injuries suffered in the accident. Fourteen students were treated for minor injuries.

Donations will be accepted until June 28. For information on how to donate to the John Pham Memorial Fund, visit www.dpcdsb.com .
