Catholic Register Staff

The following are the clergy changes for the Archdiocese of Toronto. The changes are effective July 2 unless otherwise noted.

Once again The Catholic Register will be implementing a reduced publishing schedule in July and August. Beginning with the July 5th issue, the paper will be published every second week until resumption of the normal weekly publishing schedule with the Aug. 30 issue.

Throughout the summer, however, our staff will continue to regularly update our web site (catholicregister.org) with breaking news and features.

Also please note that our office will be closed on Fridays throughout July and on the first three Fridays of August.

The Register covered what Pope Francis had to say about climate change and a culture of waste in his encyclical, Laudato Si’. We included reactions from Canadian bishops and world leaders, key messages, intelligent commentary and much more in a special 12-page encyclical feature published on June 28, 2015. Below you will find articles on Pope Francis' papal document.

There are as many opinions on Pope Francis’ encyclical as there are people. Here are a few — both pro and con — from political leaders and media personalities around the world.

On June 18, Pope Francis released his long-anticipated encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home.

Fifty-six years later they arrived in Toronto where they came to operate St. Peter’s parish and open the Newman Centre on what is now the campus of the University of Toronto. Due to declining numbers they are being forced to cease Canadian operations and return home. Here is a timeline of their years in Canada.

TORONTO - A sudden decision to close St. Michael’s Cathedral will scatter cathedral parishioners to other downtown parishes on Sundays for the next nine months while structural repairs and renovations continue on the historic church.

TORONTO - A motion calling for the province to delay implementation of Ontario's controversial new sex-ed curriculum in Toronto Catholic schools has been defeated.
