For so many years, The Catholic Register has invited young readers to share with us, using their artistic talents, how they view the Easter season.

While this year’s entry list has dwindled compared to past years where we have received more than 100 wonderful pieces of art, what has not gone down is the quality of our young artists, as you can clearly see on these pages.

It never ceases to amaze us at the Register when these beautiful and heartfelt images that show the unique understanding, through a youthful lens, of the Passion narrative show up on our doorstep. Through their joyful creativity, each expresses their love for Our Saviour in their art. And over the 15 years that we’ve run this contest, on many an occasion one of these works has graced our Easter cover.

For 2025, the judges had their work cut out for them, but we were able to come up with winners in three separate categories.

For the Grade 1-3 division, judges chose the work of Maria Teresa Valenti, a nine-year-old Grade 3 student from Richmond Hill, Ont.

In the Grade 4-6 level, it was the work of Bella Barco that stood out for the judges. Bella is a 10-year-old Grade 5 student from Toronto.

And for Grades 7 and 8, Maria Scipolo of Toronto took top honours. Maria is in Grade 7.

Each of the winners will receive a $100 Indigo gift card.

A special shout out to the Valenti family, whose children have been creating beautiful images for so many of these contests (including for our Christmas edition), often securing the top spot. Maria’s siblings Gianna (Grade 6) and Chiara (Grade 8) were among our finalists and their works are among those on these pages.

And congratulations to the others who share their work here, and indeed all who shared their work with us. Your heartfelt work is always a pleasure for all of us at The Catholic Register to see
