Pope confirmed to canonize Fatima seers during centenary visit

The Vatican confirmed April 20 that Pope Francis will canonize Fatima seers Blessed Jacinta Marto and Blessed Francisco Marto during his visit to the site May 13.

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis will declare the sainthood of Blessed Jacinta Marto and Blessed Francisco Marto, two of the shepherd children who saw Mary in Fatima, Portugal, during his visit to the site of the apparitions May 13.

VATICAN CITY – As extraordinary as the apparitions at Fatima, Portugal, nearly 100 years ago were, the sanctity of the shepherd children did not hinge on their having seen Mary, a cardinal said.

Pope to formally approve canonizations, including of Fatima seers

VATICAN CITY – Pope Francis and cardinals present in Rome will formally approve the canonizations of two of the children who saw Mary in Fatima, a large group of Brazilian martyrs, three child martyrs from Mexico and two priests.
