Canadian bishops to issue new sexual-abuse prevention document

Canada’s bishops will soon release a new document on sexual-abuse prevention. Some dioceses have their own guidelines in place, like Montreal where a priest hearing a child’s confession has to be in a place visible to another adult.

Collins’ misgivings allayed by final Synod document

TORONTO – In six months Cardinal Thomas Collins’ misgivings about the 2015 Synod on the Family have been banished by a deeply scriptural Synod summation from Pope Francis.

VATICAN CITY - The working document for the October 2014 extraordinary Synod of Bishops offers a picture of the Catholic Church today struggling to preach the Gospel and transmit moral teachings amid a "widespread cultural, social and spiritual crisis" of the family.
