The husband and wife team of Dallas and Amanda Jenkins, alongside Dr. Douglas S. Huffman, have released their fourth interactive Bible study coinciding with the newest season of The Chosen

God’s Goodness for the Chosen: An Interactive Bible Study Season 4 accompanies season four of The Chosen, a television series that has amassed more than 600 million views across streaming apps like Peacock, Amazon Prime and Netflix through its first three seasons.

To embrace the themes of suffering throughout the fourth season, God’s Goodness for the Chosen sets out to show readers how to reframe their hardships into opportunities to experience the Lord’s presence and righteousness in their own lives.

“I am really excited about this because season 4 (deals with) a lot of suffering,” Dallas Jenkins, the creator and director of The Chosen, said in a promo for the latest Bible study. “Season 4 shows Jesus suffering, the disciples suffering and while this was being written, we were suffering."

The eight chapters are designed for both individual and group study and explore similar themes to those of the series’ most recent arc such as grief, death, confusion, heartbreak, pain and sin. In a more uplifting manner, the eight-lesson study sets out to show how the aforementioned themes can be replaced by virtues like love, obedience, grace and praise.

“When our writing partner and I dug into (the book) 1 Peter and the passage on suffering, what we started to see is that as hard as suffering is in all the ways that it is, God’s goodness is bigger,” said Amanda Jenkins. “The things that God is doing through that suffering are bigger and it is not that our suffering will be removed, but that God's goodness will begin to eclipse that suffering.”

Amanda is the author and the lead creator of The Chosen’s additional content, such as devotionals, podcasts and children's books. She works in collaboration with her husband. The newest Bible study was completed alongside Huffman, the evangelical Biblical consultant for The Chosen and associate dean of the division of Biblical and theological studies at Talbot School of Theology in California.

Along with Angel Studios, the Jenkins have been increasingly active in producing accompanying media in conjunction with each season of the show. Season 4 continues the trend of a separate series known as The Aftershow, which takes a deep dive into each episode along with multiple behind-the-scenes content and inside looks into its making.

Despite all of the content aimed towards promoting and enhancing the series on the side, the creator of The Chosen made very clear the importance of the accompanying Bible studies and where they stand on the spectrum of the various Chosen content.

“These books are not a supplement to the show, the show is a supplement to these books,” Dallas said. “These books take you deeper into Scripture and they use the show as a way to get deeper into Scripture so that you can grow. That is ultimately the endgame (we want for our audience).”

God’s Goodness for the Chosen, previous Bible studies for seasons 1-3 and similar children’s books, graphic novels and more are available now in book stores and on Amazon.
