‘Catholic system will be the next target’

The Boston family came from Orangeville, Ont., to protest education cuts at Queen’s Park. Though Sean and Sonia both teach in the public system, their kids Arianna, Liam and Ciara all go to St. Peter in Orangeville. The protest followed a student walkout the previous day at 700 schools.

Starving Ontario’s school boards of money will eventually lead to the loss of Catholic education, protesters told The Catholic Register during a rally at Queen’s Park.

TORONTO - Some Ontario Catholic teachers who think the World Pride Parade is no place for their union to have representation have expressed their thoughts but feel their voice has gone unheard.

York board asks OECTA to recant its support of pride parade

York trustees voted in favour of Cathy Ferlisi’s (pictured) motion to write a formal letter calling on the teachers’ union to withdraw from participating in the parade formerly known as the Gay Pride Parade during its April 29 board meeting.

The York Catholic District School Board is formally opposing the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association’s decision to participate in the World Pride Parade this June.

Catholic parents start petition against OECTA participation at gay pride parade

Teresa Pierre, along with more than 1,000 Ontarians, thinks the Ontario English Catholic Teacher's Associations' decision to have representation in the World Pride Parade should be overturned.

TORONTO - At least 1,000 Ontarians are calling on the province's Catholic school trustees to demand the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association abandon its decision to have representation at the World Pride Parade.
