The need for retreat never greater

The continuous and time-consuming — a year-and-a-half and counting — COVID-19 pandemic has made the need for spiritual retreat more important than ever.

Given the mental and emotional impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on society over the past year-and-a-half, for many, spiritual retreat may be more essential than ever.

Retreats offer a helping hand in crisis

Loyola House in Guelph, Ont., has been offering retreats since 1964. The 600-acre property includes the Ignatius Old-Growth Forest, a 220-acre farm and the retreat house and training centre.

The sign on the door may read “Closed until further notice” at Loyola House Ignatius Jesuit Centre and other retreat centres around the country, but that doesn’t mean spiritual life needs to take a break.

Popular retreat centre makes its way to Canada

TORONTO - In 1985, the Vincentian Congregation opened its first retreat centre in Potta, India. The Divine Retreat Centre was so successful the Vincentians expanded the retreat ministry across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, the United States and now, finally, into Canada.
