Pilgrims flock to beatified teen's tomb in Assisi ahead of feast day

Blessed Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager who used his computer programming skills to spread devotion to the Eucharist, is pictured in an undated photo.The Diocese of Assisi says an estimated 117,000 pilgrims have visited the tomb of Blessed Acutis since his beatification in October 2020.

ROME -- Thousands of pilgrims have flocked to the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis, the 15-year-old Italian teenager whose use of technology to spread devotion to the Eucharist prompted Pope Francis to hail him as a role model for young people today.

New virtual school named for Carlo Acutis

Carlo Acutis was beatified at a Mass in Assisi, Italy, Oct. 10.

The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board in Ontario is naming its virtual school after Blessed Carlo Acutis (1991-2006), the teenaged Italian computer programmer beatified by Pope Francis Oct. 10 who is becoming increasingly known as “the first millennial saint.”
