Assyrian patriarch dies; was promoter of unity, served for 39 years

Catholicos Dinkha IV, patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, is greeted by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007. Patriarch Dinkha died March 26 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. A virus infection and pneumonia were cited as the cause of death; he was 79.
