Nun involved with Katy Perry real estate dispute dies in court

Holzman and another sister of the order opposed the sale of the property to Perry, due to the content of some of the pop star’s songs. In a separate transaction, and without the canonically-required approval of the Vatican or the archdiocese, the sisters sold the vacant convent property.
LOS ANGELES – Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, 89, was one of five remaining members of her religious community, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Los Angeles.

Convent sale controversy ends in favour of LA archdiocese, Katy Perry

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – This week, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and singer Katy Perry were awarded a joint $10 million sum for punitive damages over a church-owned hilltop property which was illegally sold to a developer in 2015 after the archdiocese had accepted an initial offer from Perry.

Judge sides with L.A. archbishop on contested convent sale, Katy Perry’s offer in limbo

An L.A. judge called the sale of the former convent of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to a restauranteur is invalid. Katy Perry’s offer for the convent is pending on the judge’s decision.

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County Superior Court James Chalfant ruled July 30 that the contested sale of the former convent of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to restaurateur and urban developer Dana Hollister is invalid.

At the time of the unauthorized transaction, the archdiocese had already accepted an alternate offer from pop star Katy Perry, supported by three of the five sisters.
