Korean bishops call for prayer amid ‘joy’ after Trump-Kim summit

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and U.S. President Donald Trump meet at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa island in Singapore June 12. Signing a joint statement, President Trump agreed to provide security guarantees to North Korea and Chairman Kim reaffirmed his commitment to the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
WASHINGTON – At a highly-anticipated summit on June 12, President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un signed a joint-statement making commitments “to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.”

French priest pleads for safety of North Korean Christian refugees

Despite the presence of the Jangchung Cathedral, the only Catholic Church and one of four official Christian places of worship in Pyongyang, Christian persecution in North Korea is rampant.

PARIS – A French Catholic priest working with North Korean refugees in China said conditions have worsened for surviving Christians under the dictatorship of Kim Jong Un and urged the Chinese government to give shelter to fugitives from the communist-ruled country.
