Stop the cancer of Islamic State, urges Iraq's Chaldean patriarch

BAGHDAD – Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako of Baghdad called for a united and strong stance – by Muslims and non-Muslims alike – to stop the spread of the "cancer" of Islamic State and other terrorist groups.

Chaldean patriarch urges moderate Muslims to challenge extremist acts

VIENNA - Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako of Baghdad implored moderate Muslims to reject "terrorism in the name of religion" and step up to challenge the actions of Islamic State militants against minority communities in Iraq.

Iraqi priests sanctioned for seeking asylum without superiors' consent

Archbishop Sako suspended 12 Chaldean priests and monks for not receiving permis sion from their superiors before emigrating from Iraq. At least three of those were serving in San Diego.

VATICAN CITY - Twelve Chaldean religious men and priests living in the United States, Canada, Australia and Sweden have been suspended from exercising their priestly ministry for not receiving permission from their superiors before emigrating from Iraq.
