Vatican diplomat calls on U.N. to pursue peace in world's trouble spots

Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, Vatican foreign minister, addresses the 72nd U.N. General Assembly Sept. 25 at U.N. headquarters in New York. The next day Archbishop Gallagher met with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at the State Department in Washington.

UNITED NATIONS – A Vatican official called on the world's governments to strive more actively to prevent wars, protect human dignity and the environment and work toward a nuclear-free world.

Don't move U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, bishops ask new Secretary of State

The U.S. bishops are asking the new Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, to not fulfil President Donald Trump's pledge to move the country's embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

WASHINGTON – The Israeli-Palestinian conflict requires wise U.S. engagement to build a better future for both peoples, and this future could be endangered by an embassy relocation, the U.S. Catholic bishops told the new Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
