Seminarian granted his deathbed wish to be ordained

Father Gervan Menezes and Bishop David R. Choby of Nashville, Tenn., talk with seminarian William Carmona in his intensive care room at Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio Sept. 7. The bishop was preparing to ordain Carmona, gravely ill wit h cancer, as a transitional deacon and a priest for the Nashville Diocese.

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - As William Carmona lay gravely ill in a San Antonio hospital bed, he repeatedly questioned his classmates from nearby Assumption Seminary: "Where is Bishop Choby?" "When will he get here?" And finally: "How many more hours until he ordains me?"
