Ignatian retreat into nature

It has been said that creation is God’s first and primary revelation.

That message is taken to heart at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Guelph, which has developed a variety of ecology programs.

The purpose of these programs is to offer an experience that is transformative of each person’s relationship with nature and to provide opportunities to pray for Earth.

A monthly Earth prayer is held on the third Sunday of each month. The centre also holds quarterly gatherings to celebrate the solstices and equinoxes to mark the change of seasons.

This summer at Loyola House, a retreat called Cultivating Earth’s Hope: An Ignatian Ecology Retreat is planned for July 22-30. Through presentations, contemplative re-flection and prayer activities, participants will explore how to recognize and become expressions of hope alive in these difficult but grace-filled times.

The Ecology Program at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre pays tribute to the legacy of program founder Fr. James Profit, S.J., who died in January after a three-year battle with cancer.
