We not only receive hundreds of entries each December, but we’ve been spoiled by the quality of the artwork.
That was the case once again this year, as judges had a difficult time narrowing down the entries in each of the three age categories to select the individual winners.
Grade 7-8
In the Grade 7-8 category, top prize goes to Ashley Bock, a 13-year-old Grade 8 student at St. Leo Catholic School in Toronto.
Her intricate artwork is like something found in a stained-glass window. The judges admired her attention to detail and use of colour, and recognized the many hours of hard work so clearly required to create such an exquisite depiction of the first Christmas morning.
Grade 1-3
The winner in the Grade 1-3 category is Jaeden Jeevathas of St. Richard Catholic School in Scarborough, Ont.
The seven-year-old Grade 2 student won over the judges with the overall joyfulness evident throughout a drawing in which even the animals seem delighted.
Grade 4-6
In the Grade 4-6 category, the winner is Rhianne Alcaraz, a Grade 4 student at St. Robert Catholic School in Toronto.
The nine-year-old skilfully captured the serenity and happiness of Joseph and Mary after the birth of the baby Jesus.
Each of the winners receives a $75-day at the movies.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to all the participants.
