Local police say it is “out of an abundance of caution” that the board has taken this measure.
“Police are investigating and will have more information when possible,” said the Niagara Region Police Service.
School officials told parents in a communication that the threat was targeting an unidentified school within the board.
“Students are safe with their teachers inside the school and will be able to move freely throughout the school during the hold and secure,” parents were told.
The Niagara board educates more than 20,000 students.
