The idea for Earth Hour came from Sydney, Australia. The first one was held last year when the city’s residents were asked to turn out their lights for an hour to save energy and draw attention to global warming. Since then it has become a global phenomenon.
St. Basil’s Church, at Bay and St. Joseph Streets, will mark the occasion with a candlelight Vespers, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The prayers and readings for the service will focus on creation and the Christian responsibility to be good stewards.
All are welcome. For more information contact the parish office at (416) 926-7110.
