The hamlet of Downeyville in Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes region is a very different town from when author and community historian Dan Sullivan grew up there in the 1950s and ’60s.

DUBLIN – In the last major pro-life rally ahead of Ireland's May 25 referendum on whether to liberalize the country's abortion laws, thousands gathered to say "no" to far-reaching proposals that could see abortion on demand up to 12 weeks, and even later in some cases.

The Irish influence on The Catholic Register was readily apparent during the first half-century of the 125-year-old publication, and it was never more apparent than on St. Patrick’s Day.
