Assisted suicide and salvation

Bishop Douglas Crosby, president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, believes that priests are caught between the poles of mercy and Church teaching on suicide in dealing with those who have chosen assisted suicide.

With doctor-assisted suicide now legal in Quebec and available across Canada to anyone granted permission from a Superior Court judge, bishops and pastors will face new pastoral dilemmas.
