Defending the faith starts with listening

Vlad Mamaradlo, a lay pastoral associate at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Thornhill, Ont., had some pointers for young people when talking about their faith.

Young Catholics are being challenged with tough questions about their faith. Vlad Mamaradlo, lecturing on the practical world of apologetics, recalled a story of a woman who found herself in the middle of an abortion debate at work because a co-worker asked her why she was pro-life.

Thornhill parish beacon of hope for Mideast refugees

THORNHILL, ONT. - Every day Rami Kaai receives at least 50 phone calls from Christian refugees in the Middle East who plead for his help in coming to Canada.

St. Robert’s takes robotics title

After capturing top honours at the FIRST Robotics Greater Toronto West Regional, the St. Robert’s RetroRams huddle around their team’s mechanical member.

THORNHILL, ONT. - In their FIRST Robotics Competition debut, the St. Robert’s RetroRams mechanically orchestrated a regional championship while earning the rookie all-star award at the annual competition.  

FIRST Robotics hosts high school regional championships  and invites winners, and select teams, to the world championships, to be held this year in St. Louis.

At the Toronto West Regional competition on the last weekend of March, 52 teams packed the Hershey Centre in Mississauga for a Rebound Rumble showdown where three-team alliances hit the hardwood.
