Vatican's abuse panel plans to include more experts, another survivor

Irish abuse victim Marie Collins, the lone clerical abuse survivor nominated by Pope Francis to sit on the new Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors, looks at Boston Cardinal Sean P. The papal commission will be expanding its nine-member panel to include more experts and another survivor of clerical abuse.

Communion for divorced Catholics: the Church experts agree to disagree

While divorced and remarried Catholics can attend church, unless they confess that their second marriage is a sin and agree to live their relationship like a brother and sister, they are unable to receive Communion at Mass. Trying to find a solution to welcoming such Catholics to partake in Communion is sure to be a hot topic at the upcoming Synod on the family.

There’s not a lot of wiggle room in what Jesus had to say about divorce in the Gospel of Mark.
