Prison ministry offers comfort, connection

The one thing those who are incarcerated in our prison system seek is connection, something that for many is lacking. Visiting the imprisoned, the sixth Corporal Act of Mercy, is one so often ignored.

Of the seven Corporal Works of Mercy it seems that the sixth, “Visiting the Imprisoned,” receives the least attention.

This Spanish prison ministry is helping rehabilitate inmates

The Father Garralda-Horizontes Abiertos Foundation has had such impact on inmates that a group of them have donated money to help the needy at Christmas.

MADRID, Spain – The prison ministry founded by a Spanish Jesuit in the 1960s has had such fruits as a group of inmates donating their own money to help the needy at Christmas, according to the head of the foundation.
