The last week of September felt like a time to be remembered for Catholic journalism in Canada.

A small team of Catholic journalists, most of them members of the Catholic Media Association, have launched a 12-week course aimed at raising up new journalists for the Catholic press.

The decision of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to close the domestic operations of Catholic News Service strikes at the heart of the notion of synodality which Pope Francis is encouraging through the Catholic Church. The current reflections on synodality call the members of Christ’s Body to consider the proper way for authority in the Church to be shared.

Catholic Register columnist Glen Argan failed. To his credit he admitted it. After writing a gravely inaccurate column on the residential schools issue, he corrected the facts in his next one.
