Young Chinese Catholics put faith in action

By

ARDEN, ONT. - Acronym wise, it’s a mouthful — ECCCLC. So participants call it “GT” instead, which stands for Ga Tong, which gives you a sense of who is involved.

The Eastern Canada Chinese Catholic Living Camp was held Labour Day weekend, as it has been annually since 1977, a weekend for Chinese Catholic youth to “enrich their Catholic faith through spiritual sharing, community life and Chinese culture.”

GT is usually held at a camp north of Toronto, but this year it came to the Archdiocese of Kingston at Camp Kennebec, north of Kingston. I was pleased to spend some time with them because the young Chinese Catholics are one of the best kept secrets in the Church in Canada.
