The Catholic Register’s Oct. 29 editorial continues the paper’s uncomfortable lurch to the right.
It seeks to address the current situation in the Gaza Strip, which has now taken the lives of 10,000 Palestinian civilians and almost 4,000 Palestinian children. You undercut your credibility with references to two comedians, Sacha Baron Cohen and Jerry Seinfeld, an expert about nothing, then further degrade your purpose by mentioning Conrad Black and his unsubstantiated claims too dark for mainstream media.
You mutter in criticism of Canada’s bishops. It is wise for the bishops to pastor rather than become rhetorical peacocks. That job has been taken over by the writers of the sad dirge to political misdirection that is your editorial.
