Duty to inform

  • November 8, 2024

I’m afraid I must disagree with Sr. Georgette Gregory about what constitutes good Catholic journalism — with emphasis on both words.

Her letter, which appeared in your edition of Oct. 20, 2024, expressed disappointment with your coverage of a civil case involving allegations of sexual misconduct by a prominent priest.

Central to the case is the claim that although the alleged misconduct was reported, proper authorities within the Church failed to act.

This is a lamentably familiar concern for lay Catholics. Bravo to the Register for keeping us informed.
