The immortal poem “In Flanders Fields,” written by Lt. Col. John McCrae, has brought countless reflections on the past to vividly remember and connect with brave soldiers who fought virtuously for freedom in the major conflicts of the past century.

It would be impossible to encompass all the ways a Catholic woman could live purposefully in 2020. However, one virtual workshop explained some of the core elements in a six-session thought-provoking series of online talks and seminars. 

A friend of mine shared a Facebook post from a Catholic youth group. He commented: “Finally a saint with a picture with his tongue out and wearing jeans, t-shirt and a sweater. We could possibly have been Facebook friends too.”

If there are teachers or students in your life, I urge you to pray for them because this school year is nothing like anything anyone has seen before.

Does virtue require faith? If not, can an atheist be a virtuous person? For many Christians, it does not occur to us to ask this question, because some assume that the answer is an immediate “no.”

The message of Our Lady of Fatima from a century ago continues to echo today: Pray the rosary every day. Our Lady of Medjugorje has also said we should keep a rosary on us at all times.

“God always speaks to you. All you have to do is listen”

Employers often require references from new hires to ensure they are the best candidate. A worthwhile process, to be sure, but not an approach one should have when sampling Marian devotions.

With new public health regulations in place to combat COVID-19 in school boards nationwide and many of our exciting activities shut down or limited, there is no doubt this school year will be unlike any other.

A few days ago, I got back from my last hiking trip of the summer. As I sat on a pebbled Lake Superior beach at night and watched a crescent moon paint the water with a mystical glow, everything seemed peaceful and tranquil.
